Suite Scarlett Review

At first, I wasn't sure if I would like Suite Scarlett but, as soon as I read the first few chapters, I found it to be amazingly and adorably fun. It’s about a girl named Scarlett Martin who, on her 15th birthday, inherits a suite in the Martin family’s hotel in Manhattan. But also with the inheritance of the suite, she also has to take care of the guests staying in it. When Amy Amberson comes to the hotel to stay in the room that Scarlett had just inherited, her summer changes drastically and hilariously in ways she never expected.
If you know me, then you know I’m not big on cute, happy, little books with inevitable happy endings that end in perfect bliss. But this book is far from that. While it’s cute and fun, it also has a little bit of an edge that will leave strangely addicted.
Maureen Johnson’s style is amazingly fluid and easy to follow and the perfect anecdote for a boring weekday afternoon. The characters are believable and unpredictably engaging. I would definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for a fun, easy read.
And I also recommend the sequel, Scarlett Fever. It’s the perfect follow up and, I think, even better than Suite Scarlett, which is really saying something!
What have you all been reading lately? Any suggestions of books I should read?
