My Favorite Words

     As you are probably already aware, I love the English language and language in general. There are so many words in the English language that we don't even know about and I love to learn about them. Here are a few of my favorite words and their meanings. Try to use them in conversations--it's fun!

Boviate
–verb
To speak or write at length in a pompous or boastful manner.

Mulligrubs
–noun
Ill temper; colic; grumpiness.

Mussitate
–verb
1. To silently move the lips in simulation of audible speech.

Pedagogy
–noun, plural -gies.
1. The function or work of a teacher; teaching.
2. The art or science of teaching; education; instructional methods.

Caterwaul
–noun
1. A shrill, discordant sound.  
 
Vomitorium
–noun
In a theater or stadium, esp. ancient, a passageway leading to and from the seating

Perfunctory
–adjective
1. Done merely to carry out a duty; performed mechanically or routinely.
2. Lacking interest, care, or enthusiasm; indifferent.

Lethologica
–noun
The inability to remember a word or put your finger on the right word

Vulpine
–adjective
1. Cunning or crafty.
2. Of or resembling a fox.

Bombilate
–verb
Make a buzzing sound

Plethora
–noun
Overabundance; excess
